Macedonian
American Council
M E M O R A N D U M
September 25, 2001, Detroit
We the above mentioned organization from the
Macedonian Diaspora from US, Canada, Australia and all over the world,
representing over 12 millions Macedonians
, categorically denounce the
decision of the UN Security Council
to pass the resolution containing
the text that endorses the
“Framework Agreement” signed by the relevant parties in Macedonia on August
13-th 2001 in Macedonia and universally Denounced
by our organizations (Exhibit
A).
We hold that in view of the circumstances and the conditions under which this
agreement was signed if accepted would represent blatant violation of the
previous resolutions of the UN Security Council (1244, 1245), as well as
contradiction to the Agreement for Association and Stabilization signed between
the EU and Macedonian Government in February this year (Exhibit
B),(Examples of violations and more Exhibit
C).
Furthermore any attempt by the UN Security Council
to endorse a “Framework
Agreement” which is still being reviewed, scrutinized and disputed not only by
members of Macedonian Parliament but by overwhelming majority of the Macedonian
People is viewed by us as a direct interference in to the internal affairs of
the sovereign state of the Republic of Macedonia which is a member State of the
United Nations.
We firmly believe that until and unless the Macedonian People have had un ample
opportunity to fully review and debate publicly and democratically this
“Framework Agreement”, which by the view of the majority of the Macedonian
people is nothing less but complete violation of Macedonia as a sovereign Nation
State and democracy and abrogation of the inalienable right of the Macedonian
People to decide for themselves the nature of the State in which they will live,
any motion on the part of the UN Security Council
will be considered in
violation with the very document of
the Charter of the United Nations.
We appeal to the individual member States of the UN Security Council to conceder
the content of this Memorandum as an expression of the free democratic will of
the Macedonian People who looks upon The Security Council of the UN as the
highest arbiter of universal justice, rule of law and democracy.
