An interview with Lyndon LaRouche was broadcasted on Oct 5 in the 8 o'clock news in the main Macedonia's TV channel, {Makedonska Television} considered close to the government.. Audio taped two days before, the interview was rushed to production and became the centerpiece of the evening news. It was a very pleasing shock for the many LaRouche supporters in Macedonia, especially because it came at the end of a rapid crescendo of publication in Macedonia of articles from LaRouche publications, when the name LaRouche had been constantly in the spotlight. EIRNS received comments of the kind "LaRouche is incredibly powerful!" "Fantastic, he is not scared of anything!" "Yes, yes the truth, we need the truth!"
And it is not over: On Oct 6 the whole interview will re-broadcast on the most popular radio station in the country. According to rumors printed media are preparing to re-publish the interview. Such an intense coverage is to be seen also as a political statement by Macedonians presently under attack by the Anglo-American groups inside NATO that are determined to partition Macedonia in the context of the Clash of Civilization scenario. The TV news started with the announcement: "Today topic is an exclusive interview with Lyndon LaRouche, the US Presidential candidate." Later on, introducing the actual interview the anchorman explained that LaRouche is a candidate to the 2004 Presidential, but he has been in the political and strategic forefront for the last 30 years. "He launched the idea of a radical reform of the financial system, the idea of a New Bretton Woods." Then the anchorman outlined the Eurasian Land-Bridge concept and LaRouche's "opposition to the financial oligarchies of the world." "His economic and financial forecast were never wrong" The long excerpts from the interview aired in the TV news included a question on what he said in the recent Schiller Institute conference about Macedonia, and the answer by LaRouche that the roots of the attack against Macedonia is in the Desert Storm operation and in the NATO was in the Balkans engineered by Brzezinski and Tony Blair. Indeed, LaRouche said, it is possible to find a solution to the problems in the Balkans, but the power that were behind Desert Storm do not want any solution, they want a war, they support the narco-terrorists of the Kosovo Liberation Army. The Macedonia war has been dictated by NATO that is determined to force the Government to give away its sovereignty. "This is imperialism! This is a policy that is morally sick!"
LaRouche also explained that Macedonia is very important because it is a connecting point between Europe and the Middle East. When asked about terrorism in Macedonia, LaRouche pointed out that one must understand what is terrorism; in fact it is a wrong term, the reality of irregular warfare. The result is terrible: neighbors unchained against neighbors. (We will have soon the whole English transcription). Pictures of LaRouche and his books and publications, especially his biography, illustrated the interview.
The coverage on LaRouche in Macedonia was pioneered more than three years ago by the young journalist, Krum Velkov, in the magazine {Fokus} that really brought LaRouche ideas to a large public. Every week a new article or comment on LaRouche appeared in that magazine in a column that carried the LaRouche picture taken from his biography book. It was continued with radio reports and discussions and with the publication of the by now famous pamphlet, "Lyndon LaRouche: a story of knowledge and courage" that circulated massively for a symbolic price especially among young people. More recently, starting the last Sept 22, the coverage became "heavier." The news program {Globus} (Makedonska Television) reported and commented large portion of an {EIR} article on the KLA Taliban connection. The same was then reprinted in the biggest daily, {Dnevnik}. Other newspapers and TV station reported it. On Oct 4 the news read the whole text of an article on US Ambassador James Pardew's attack on Macedonia. The same article, that explained the LaRouche's victory strategy for Macedonia was then reprinted in {Nova Makedonia} and {Denes} while Denes magazine} reprinted in its totality an interview appeared in {EIR} with the leader of the Macedonian Diaspora in North America, Nestor Oginar. All this coverage pointed to the LaRouche role and, at the end of the process, there was today's interview.
